How long will it take to get my first issue?

Overland Journal is produced and shipped approximately every 2.5 months. Timetables to receive your first issue depend on the date you subscribe in relation to our production schedule. Depending on your subscription date, it is conceivable you could wait as long as 2.5 months, or as little as 15 days for your first issue to arrive.

If you find the wait is too long, may we suggest a back-issue to tide you over? Back-issues are available in our online store and ship once every week.

Can I start my subscription with a back issue?

Can I see the magazine before purchasing a subscription?

Yes, we offer several ways to do this:

  1. A $10 sample issue is available through our online store.
  2. A complete downloadable version of our Summer 2008 issue, as well as articles from several issues Spring 2007 and Winter 2007 issues, are available on our Sample Issue page.
  3. Overland Journal is available at premium retailers across the United States and Canada. Click here for a list of retailers near you.

Your website says the current issue has shipped, but I haven't received it yet?

Domestic delivery times: Overland Journal ships out of Salt Lake City, UT, and can take 2.5 to 3 weeks to arrive from shipment date. Those in Salt Lake City and in the West generally receive their magazines first. Those in the Central U.S. and East can take the full 3 weeks. Please allow this time before reporting an undelivered magazine.

International delivery times (including Canada): Overland Journal ships out of Salt Lake City, UT, from there it goes to Chicago, IL, where it gets packaged for the international trip. Delivery time can take up to 6 weeks from original shipment date. Please allow this time before reporting an undelivered magazine.

When can I expect to receive back issues, field sets, hats, etc?

Domestic delivery times: Orders are shipped via USPS once per week (usually Wednesdays) from our offices in Prescott, AZ. Delivery time depends on your shipping destination, but generally will arrive within 7-10 days from your order's shipment date. Please allow this time before reporting an undelivered package. There is no tracking available on USPS shipments.

International delivery times (including Canada): Orders are shipped via USPS First Class Mail International once per week (usually Wednesdays) from our offices in Prescott, AZ. Delivery time depends on your shipping destination, but generally will arrive within 3 weeks from your order's shipment date. Please allow this time before reporting an undelivered package. There is no tracking available on USPS shipments.

What do I do if my issue arrived damaged?

If your issue frequently arrives damaged and your mailbox is sufficiently sized, then check with your local post office to see if the magazine arrives to their distribution point in good condition. If it does, the post office should correct the issue with your mail carrier. If it does not, then please contact us at .

What if I missed an issue?

If you have missed an issue, we may have an incorrect address on file or your magazines may have stopped being delivered due to a lapse in your subscription. If neither of these explanations applies, please contact customer service to report the missed issue. If you have missed an issue due to a late renewal or failure to notify us of an address change (we understand you had a lot on your mind with that move), please visit our online store where all previous issues are available to purchase and ship once per week.

I've moved. How do I change my address?

Please contact customer service. When changing your address, please provide your name and previous address with zip code, and new address with zip code in your correspondence. At this time the U.S. Post office does not forward our magazine. It is possible a magazine shipped prior to us receiving your address change. If this is the case, it may be necessary to make arrangements to collect the issue from your previous address or have someone pick it up.

Why am I receiving a duplicate subscription?

If you are receiving duplicate copies of Overland Journal, please contact customer service so we can resolve this issue.

How do I know when it's time to renew?

We send out three renewal notices prior to your last issue. First by e-mail, next by a postcard sent through the mail, and lastly by a "last issue" insert placed in the polybag with your last issue.

Are back issues of your publication available?

Extra copies are printed of each issue. Those copies are available to purchase, through our online store, as long as supplies last. For a list of all available back issues visit our back issue page.

Is your magazine sold on newsstands?

How many issues a year do you produce and when can I expect to receive them?

Overland Journal produces 5 issues per year - Annual Gear Issue, Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Our production schedule generally corresponds to the seasons, with the Gear issue falling between Winter and Spring.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You may cancel your subscription by contacting customer service. We will promptly stop your service and issue a refund for any unmailed copies.

What is your unconditional guarantee?

If you are dissatisfied with Overland Journal for any reason and would like to cancel your subscription, simply contact customer service. We will promptly cancel your subscription and issue you a refund for any unmailed copies.

Do you offer an online version of your magazine?

Not at this time.

I can't remember my username/password. What should I do?

The username and password is not a mandatory part of our shopping cart system. You may shop without creating an account or logging in. To do so, simply select the item(s) you are interested in under "Categories" in the right hand column of the shop page and you will be taken to the page displaying the selected items. If you have created an account and have forgotten your password, under "Authentication" in the right hand column of the shop page, select "recover password" to have it sent to you via e-mail. Or, if you wish, simply select "New Customer" and proceed checking out.
